Every year, Rick Owens‘ Paris Fashion Week presentation takes style to the next level with a crazy and weird runway show.
Back in 2015, the designer showcased men’s penises in a playful manner opening in a new window. But for 2016 Rick Owens to come up with a more wacky solution for his Spring 2016 collection at Paris Fashion Week: sending models down in pairs.
What really made everyone’s’ jaws drop were the accessories-human accessories. Humans being used as decorative body parts in the form of accessories. The models walked the runway with other women strapped onto their backs and fronts in interesting positions.
Owens had more artistic reason for the presentation he explained: He felt inspired by the bonds between women. “I see my vision for the collection being more about nourishment, sisterhood/motherhood… Women raising women, women becoming women, and women supporting women,” Owens said in a statement. “Straps can be about restraint, but here they are all about support and cradling. Straps here become loving ribbons.”
Audience members of the show explained on social media quoted the weird runway show as “the burden of life” and “the baggage we all carry is … each other” — give new meaning to women supporting one another.
