The hot and sexy models have always been the favorite of many Vietjet passengers, also becoming the media focus every year. VietJet Air said the 2018 collection was created to “showcase the airline’s high-quality service.”
Vietjet uses its provocative “bikini girls” to buck international trends to get attention in Vietnam. The airline has issued this statement and video below.
“Vietjet Bikini Calendar Girls are arriving to celebrate Christmas and the New Year!”
The calendar features women posing in Bikinis as staff in airport terminals, on the runway and inside planes.
Although none of the women appearing in the shots actually work for VietJet, the airline claimed the stunt was designed to showcase their “high-quality service” and “modern fleet”.
A media representative for the airline said: “The hot and sexy models have always been the favourite of many VietJet passengers.
“Not only displaying their gorgeous looks, the models posed in different cabin crew and staff roles to showcase the airline’s high-quality service and friendly staff.”
VietJet, founded by Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao – Vietnam’s first female billionaire – said the calendar emphasized free choice of people to wear whatever they wanted.
“We are not upset when people associate us with the bikini image. If that makes people delighted and happy, then we’ll be happy,” Luu Duc Khanh, VietJet’s managing director, said in emailed comments to Reuters.
When asked about the views of Thao, Khanh said the CEO thought people “have the right to wear whatever they like, bikini or traditional ao dai”, referring to the traditional Vietnamese long dress.
