In India the people can’t decide what’s dirty or clean for them, its the Censor Board who decide what kind of Movies we should watch. Any movie that has Sex and Religion involved in it, has to got through Censor Board’s Scissors.
The sad part is the Indian Censor Board not only considers sex scenes, it also even considers long kissing as dirty and inappropriate for Indian audience. So here is the list of films the desi audiences missed out on over the years.
10 Hollywood movies that are banned in India
#1 Dirty Grandpa (2016)
#2 50 Shades of Grey (2015)
#3 Magic Mike XXL (2015)
#4 Get Hard (2015)
The studio was convinced that there was no way the Board members would let ‘Get Hard’ play on Indian screens the way it was meant to be, because of the unpredictable cuts the CBFC would invariable inflict on their film.
#5 Blue Jasmine (2013)
The CBFC clears a film only if there’s a smoking disclaimer inserted in the film’s reel, EVERY SINGLE TIME a character smokes. Woody Allen refused to do so, resulting in the film not getting a Censor clearance.
#6 The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (2011)
The David Fincher-drama starring Daniel Craig and Rooney Maara had a lot of disturbing scenes, including a rape sequence, among other portions of full-frontal nudity. The director refused to release his film with the cuts the Board recommended and so The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo never made its way to Indian theatres.
#7 The Human Centipede (2009)
#8 The Da Vinci Code (2006)
In many states of India the Christian minorities wants to ban the film from screening in India for the perceived anti-Christian message.
